I have lived the past three decades in the Hill Country of south Texas. On the doorstep of northern Mexico's Chihuahuan desert, this arid region is a unique blend of rolling topography, hardwood forest, and streams of transparent water gushing from karst geology. The area is also home to the noble nogalito, an unappreciated treasure of the botanical world.
Nearly the first three decades of my life were spent as a confirmed materialist, convinced of the WYSIWYG nature of reality. At the peak of my passion for hard evidence to explain the cosmos, I was unexpectedly side-swiped by events and understanding far outside my existing world view. It was obvious, to my absolute chagrin, that I had not only greatly underestimated the subtleties and wonder of this universe, but had erred tragically concerning how and why it came to be. Further, I was not prepared to meet the Personality who founded the ground of all reality.
The unfolding time of my life continually astounds and amazes me. Though many may look at my life from the outside and conclude it to be mundane and typical, every day I rise becomes yet another twenty four hour adventure. The articles on this blog explore some of the fragrance and taste of this unexpected enterprise.
